Required Oregon Disclosures:

We are required by Oregon law to disclose to you that a homestead on which amounts of homestead property taxes are deferred, as provided by the Oregon property tax deferral program (Or. Rev. Stat. 311.666 to 311.701), and that remain unpaid, may not be pledged as security for a reverse mortgage by any person.

If you have received a deferral of property taxes on your home as provided under the Oregon property tax deferral program, and those taxes remain unpaid, you must pay off those taxes prior to or as part of obtaining a reverse mortgage loan.

Further, if you currently are not a participant in the Oregon homestead property tax deferral program, or even if you pay off your deferred taxes prior to your property being pledged to secure a reverse mortgage, once you enter into a reverse mortgage transaction, you will be ineligible for Oregon’s tax deferral program.

The department maintains a recovery fund to make payments of certain actual out-of-pocket damages sustained by borrowers caused by acts of licensed mortgage banker residential mortgage loan originators.
